Professor Lynne Turner-Stokes holds the Northwick Park Chair of Rehabilitation Medicine and the Herbert Dunhill Chair of Rehabilitation at King’s College London. She is also a consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine and Director of the Regional Hyper-acute Rehabilitation Unit (RHRU) at Northwick Park Hospital. Her roles include leading the UK Rehabilitation Outcomes Collaborative (UKROC), which provides national benchmarking for specialist rehabilitation services in England. She has contributed significantly to national policy development through roles with the Department of Health, NHS England, British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine (BSRM), and the Royal College of Physicians (RCP). Her research focuses on health services research, outcome measurement, and cost-efficiency in neurological rehabilitation, with over 200 peer-reviewed publications.
Research interests include systematic reviews, cohort data analysis, outcome measure development, and casemix evaluation. Key areas of study involve spasticity management, prolonged disorders of consciousness, and the impact of rehabilitation on functional outcomes. Notable contributions include the ULIS programme on spasticity management and the development of clinical guidelines for botulinum toxin use.
Her awards include MBE, The President's Medal, and fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians and Royal Society of Medicine. She leads projects such as improving palliative care through goal attainment scaling and advancing understanding of anxiety in stroke survivors. Collaborative work spans international studies and national audits, emphasizing evidence-based healthcare delivery.
