Lynne Sykes

Lynne Sykes is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Department of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction at Imperial College London. She is also a Consultant Obstetrician at St Mary’s Hospital, London, and leads the Preterm Birth Prevention Clinical Service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Her work bridges clinical practice and translational research, focusing on improving outcomes for women at risk of preterm birth.

Her research centers on understanding how the maternal immune system influences the risk of preterm birth. She aims to improve prediction and prevention strategies through mechanistic insights. Her work is deeply rooted in women's health, reproductive immunology, and clinical obstetrics, with a strong translational focus.

Dr. Sykes has been an active member of the Society for Reproductive Investigation (SRI) since 2008. She was first introduced to SRI during her PhD under Professor Phil Bennett and presented at the 2009 annual meeting in Glasgow. Since then, she has benefited from SRI’s global network, receiving the International Training Grant and mentoring students who have won the SRI Young Investigator Award and Travel Prizes.
