Professor Lynne Pearce is a distinguished academic at Lancaster University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) and the English and Creative Writing department. She has held significant administrative roles, including Director of Postgraduate Studies (2010-13) and core tutor for the Faculty's PGR Research Training Programme since 2004. As Co-Director (Humanities) of Lancaster's Centre for Mobilities Research (CeMoRe), she leads interdisciplinary research initiatives. Her work bridges feminist literary theory, cultural geography, and mobilities studies, with a focus on auto/mobility, spatial narratives, and relationships.
Her research emphases include the intersections of mobility with love, memory, and climate change, as seen in publications like Drivetime: Literary Excursions in Automotive Consciousness (2016) and Mobility and the Humanities (2017). She co-edits the Palgrave Studies in Mobilities, Literature and Culture series and serves as Associate Editor for Transfers. Professor Pearce has supervised approximately 40 PhD students, prioritizing postgraduate training and student experience improvement. Her projects include AHRC-funded 'Moving Manchester' (2006-2010) and collaborations on mobility in the climate emergency context.
Her involvement in CeMoRe and the Centre for Gender Studies reflects her commitment to interdisciplinary research. She remains active in editorial and conference roles despite being currently on leave, maintaining accessibility via l.pearce@lancaster.ac.uk.
