Lynne Huffer is the Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Philosophy at Emory University. She holds a PhD in French Literature from the University of Michigan (1989), with previous appointments at Yale (1989-1998) and Rice Universities (1998-2005). Her research bridges feminist theory, queer theory, and Foucault studies, with notable works including Foucault’s Strange Eros (2020) and Mad for Foucault (2010). She has received prestigious awards including the MLA Florence Howe Award (2011) and multiple teaching honors.
Her current project Respite: 99 Anthropocene Fragments explores environmental humanities. Huffer has residencies at institutions like the Camargo Foundation and co-produced the collaborative artists’ book Wading Pool. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates philosophy, literary criticism, and creative nonfiction, emphasizing fragmented forms as generative spaces for thought.
