Prof Lynne Barbara Jack is a Professor at Heriot-Watt University's School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society, leading the Institute for Sustainable Building Design. She holds dual roles as Professor and Director of Research in the School of the Built Environment since 2008. Her research focuses on building drainage systems, climate change adaptation, and sustainable infrastructure design.
Education: PhD from Heriot-Watt University (1997), followed by roles as Research Associate (1993-1997) and University Research Fellow (1999-2002). Key projects include EPSRC-funded initiatives like AUDACIOUS and ARCC DOWNPIPE, addressing urban drainage resilience under climate change.
Research interests span: 1) Air pressure transient modeling in drainage systems; 2) Climate adaptation strategies for building infrastructure; 3) Water conservation technologies. Recent work explores acoustic emissions in drainage systems and alkali-activated binders for sustainable materials.
Awards: 2024 ASEAN Best Paper Award and 1997 CIBSE Napier Shaw Medal for contributions to building services engineering.
