Williams investigates how individuals adjust to chronic illnesses while emphasizing resilience and positive adaptation. Her work examines gynaecological health barriers, vaccine hesitancy in older populations, and digital health interventions for chronic disease management. This research directly supports UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through community-focused health behavior solutions.
Her recent publications demonstrate methodological rigor in systematic and scoping reviews, addressing critical gaps in digital health adoption for older adults and patient information-seeking behaviors for new medications. These works highlight interdisciplinary approaches bridging psychology, gerontology, and public health to tackle real-world health challenges.
Williams has secured substantial funding from The Chief Scientist Office (Scotland), NIHR, and AHRC for projects including an ESRC IAA initiative (2023-2028) and endometriosis research. She supervises MSc Clinical Health Psychology dissertations and one PhD candidate (Moore, C.), while previously serving as External Examiner at Robert Gordon University (2020-2024) and Queen Margaret University (2014-2019).
