Lynn Turner is a Senior Lecturer and Reader in Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths, University of London, serving as co-Head of Department from 2022-2025. Her research explores animal and sexual differences in visual/aural culture through continental philosophy, psychoanalysis, and literature. She holds a PhD in Cultural Studies (University of Leeds, 2002), MA (1995), and BA in Fine Art (Newcastle Polytechnic, 1990).
Research Interests: Critical Animal Studies, Feminist Philosophy, Continental Philosophy, Deconstruction, and Environmental Humanities. She has authored/co-edited works including Erotics of Deconstruction (2024), Poetics of Deconstruction (2020), and The Edinburgh Companion to Animal Studies (2018).
Awards: AHRC Research Leave Scheme (2007), BA Overseas Travel Grant (2010). Active in academic leadership roles, Turner co-leads the PhD program in Visual Cultures and contributes to research clusters on Environmental Humanities and Feminist Theory.
Labs/Teams: Co-edits Derrida Today and sits on editorial boards for Goldsmiths Press and book series. Engages in interdisciplinary projects like guerrilla gardening and podcasting (e.g., Paperweight Radio: Animals).
