Lynn Thomas is a Professor and Chair of the History Department at the University of Washington, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies and Anthropology Departments, and is an active member of the African Studies Program. Her research focuses on politics, gender, and health in 20th-century Africa.
Her teaching includes undergraduate courses on sub-Saharan African history since 1880, South African history, and African health/illness studies. Graduate courses cover African historiography, comparative colonialism, and gender studies.
Though no recent articles, awards, or grants are listed here, her work bridges historical analysis with contemporary social issues. She contributes to interdisciplinary programs like the Comparative History of Ideas (CHID) and the CLIP Fellows Program.
