Lynn Tanoue, MD, MBA, is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine. She serves as Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs and Director of the Yale Lung Screening and Nodule Program. Her roles include leadership in the Yale Cancer Center Thoracic Oncology Program and the Tuberculosis Outreach Program. Dr. Tanoue received her BA from Harvard and MD from Yale, followed by residency and fellowship training at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Her research focuses on lung cancer screening, thoracic oncology, and healthcare disparities. She has authored over 90 publications and holds leadership positions in organizations such as the American College of Chest Physicians and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. Dr. Tanoue has received multiple awards, including Connecticut Magazine Top Docs (2017–2020) and the ATS Thoracic Oncology Assembly’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
She leads initiatives to improve clinical care quality and access, including structured reporting for lung CT incidental findings and disparities research. Her clinical interests span thoracic oncology, critical care, and tuberculosis prevention. Dr. Tanoue also founded the Yale Medical Symphony Orchestra, fostering arts integration in medicine.
