Lynn McIntyre

Dr. Lynn McIntyre is a Senior Lecturer and Interim Director of Harper Food Innovation at Harper Adams University. With over 30 years of experience in food microbiology, she specializes in farm-to-fork safety, pathogen control, and rapid detection methods. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Microbiology from the University of Glasgow and a PhD in Food Science from the University of Guelph, Canada.

Her research focuses on microbiological safety in poultry, meat, dairy, and produce, with emphasis on natural antimicrobial methods like bacteriophages and shelf-life evaluation. She contributes to the Food Standards Agency Advisory Committee on Novel Foods and Processes (ACNFP) and serves as CEBA’s expert advisor for evidence synthesis in food systems.

Teaching includes courses on food science, safety, quality, and production. Professional memberships include the Society for Applied Microbiology (SfAM), International Association for Food Protection (IAFP), and ISEKI-Food Association (IFA).

She previously managed microbial food safety research for New Zealand Food Safety Authority and served as Associate Editor for the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture for a decade.
