Lynn Lohnas is an Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at Syracuse University's College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on understanding how memories are formed, stored, and retrieved, with an emphasis on computational modeling and experimental neuroscience. She holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania (2012) and a B.A. in Neuroscience and Mathematics from Brandeis University (2007).
Her research explores three core areas: memorability of memory content itself, relationships between memories, and the role of contextual information. She employs both behavioral experiments and computational models to study neural activity associated with memory processes. Her work has been published in journals like Computational Brain & Behavior and Neuropsychologia.
Lohnas teaches courses in cognitive neuroscience at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including Introduction to Cognitive Neuroscience and Advanced Cognitive Neuroscience. She currently serves as a Consulting Editor for Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory and Cognition and organizes the Context and Episodic Memory Symposium.
Her research lab, Computation, Cognition, and Memory Lab, investigates memory processes through computational models and neurophysiological methods. Recent work examines emotional influences on temporal context models and the impact of hippocampal activity on memory encoding.
