Lynn Kirabo is the Maria M. Klawe Assistant Professor of Climate and Computer Science at Harvey Mudd College, with a joint appointment in the Hixon Center for Climate and the Environment and the Computer Science department. She directs the CACTI Lab and focuses on equitable climate action and accessibility in public transit systems, particularly in the Global South. Her research employs human-centered methods to address disability justice and climate change interventions.
Education: Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University (advised by Dr. Aaron Steinfeld), M.S. in Human-Computer Interaction (CMU), and M.S. in Information Technology (CMU Africa). Her work is funded by NIDILRR and the Siebel Foundation.
Teaching includes courses like CLES122 (Climate Justice), CLES120 (Games for Climate Literacy), and CS183/184 (Computer Science Clinic). She emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches bridging HCI, climate science, and public policy.
Key awards include being a Siebel Scholar (2023), LEAP Alliance Fellow (2018), and Grace Hopper Scholar (2018). Her work has been recognized with a Best Paper Honorable Mention at MobileHCI 2020.
Labs and Initiatives: CACTI Lab, co-creator of AfroGSA and BIPOC in HCI, and active in STEM diversity initiatives in Uganda, Rwanda, and the U.S.
