Her research focuses on contaminant fate and transport, environmental surface chemistry, and combined abiotic/biotic treatment systems for in-situ remediation. Recent work explores membrane fouling dynamics, ion transport mechanisms in water treatment systems, and sociotechnical challenges in rural water infrastructure management, particularly in Alaska.
Key article themes span from membrane-based water treatment to environmental justice in water access and geochemical contaminant interactions. Her scientific awards include the Centennial Chair in Civil Engineering, recognizing her contributions to environmental engineering research.
