Lynette Hamlin, PhD, RN, CNM, FACNM, FAAN, is a Professor and Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences' Graduate School of Nursing. She leads faculty development and academic collaborations, integrating clinical practice, health policy, and education. Her expertise includes women’s health access, nurse-midwifery outcomes, and health services research, with a focus on military populations and rural healthcare.
Dr. Hamlin holds advanced degrees from Loyola University Chicago (BSN, MSN) and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She completed a nurse-midwifery certificate at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her career includes pioneering roles such as the first Certified Nurse-Midwife with hospital privileges in Lake County, Illinois, and developing academic programs like Yale’s Women’s Health & Midwifery faculty practice.
Her research emphasizes improving access to obstetric care, maternal morbidity analysis, and healthcare equity. Notable projects include geospatial analyses of cesarean access and studies on pelvic floor disorders among active-duty women. She has published extensively on military health outcomes, opioid management, and perinatal mental health.
Dr. Hamlin’s awards include the Kitty Ernst Award (2002), recognition as a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing (2017), and the Faye G. Abdellah Senior Research Award (2022). She advocates for policies enhancing women’s health services and leads initiatives to address burnout in academic faculty.
