Lynette Germes

Lynette Germes is a Lecturer-researcher at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, affiliated with the Communication, Behaviour & Sustainable Society department. Her work focuses on the societal and behavioral aspects of energy transition, particularly studying local energy initiatives (LEIs) in Groningen and Drenthe provinces. She is a PhD candidate at the Entrance – Centre of Expertise Energy, investigating LEI development barriers, citizen involvement, and municipal collaboration.

Research interests include citizen participation in energy transitions, social networks of LEIs, and sustainable development goals. She has led projects like the 'Groningse Lokale Energietransitie' and 'Programma Energieparticipatie', emphasizing participatory approaches in energy policy.

Her recent activities include presenting at the International Conference on Just and Inclusive Energy Transition (2023) and co-organizing workshops on global energy transition strategies. Collaborations span academic and municipal stakeholders in the Netherlands.
