Lynda Day is a Professor in the Africana Studies department at Brooklyn College, City University of New York (CUNY), with a focus on African and African American history, gender studies, and post-war reconstruction in Sierra Leone. Her research explores the intersection of colonialism, women's political authority, and cultural institutions in West Africa.

Education

Her scholarly work examines women's roles as traditional rulers in Sierra Leone, feminist movements, and the impact of colonialism on gender dynamics. She has published extensively in journals like Journal of West African History and African and Asian Studies, and contributed chapters to major references such as the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of African History.
