Lyn Wright Fogle is a Professor in the Department of English at the University of Memphis, serving as Applied Linguistics Coordinator. She holds a B.A. from Emory University (1995), M.A. from American University (2002), and Ph.D. from Georgetown University (2009). Her research focuses on bilingualism/multilingualism, language policy, and sociocultural dimensions of language learning, employing discourse analysis and language socialization frameworks.
Key research interests include family language dynamics, language and kinship relations, and intersections of sexuality with language acquisition. Publications include monographs like Critical perspectives on language and kinship in multilingual families (2020) and edited volumes on diverse family language policies. She has contributed to TESOL education through innovative teaching methodologies informed by her classroom experiences with multilingual/multidialectal students.
Awards include a Fulbright Fellowship (Russia) and Peace Corps service (Ukraine). Her work bridges academic research and pedagogical practice, emphasizing community-engaged scholarship and critical perspectives in applied linguistics.
