Lyn Tieu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of French at the University of Toronto, also affiliated with the Department of Linguistics and the Cognitive Science Research Community at UofT. She holds an Honorary Senior Research Fellowship at Macquarie University's Department of Linguistics. Her research focuses on syntax, semantics, and pragmatics, combining experimental methods to study linguistic meaning acquisition in children and cross-modal interactions with gesture and music.
Education: PhD in Linguistics from the University of Connecticut (2013). Postdoctoral fellowships at Laboratoire de Sciences Cognitives et Psycholinguistique (LINGUAE group, Ecole Normale Supérieure) and Macquarie University's Centre for Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders. Previously served as Senior Research Fellow at Western Sydney University (2017-2021) and Adjunct Fellow at MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour & Development (2022-2024).
Editorial roles include Co-Editor-in-Chief of Glossa since 2020, and Editorial Board membership at Linguistics & Philosophy and Semantics & Pragmatics. Active in interdisciplinary research through affiliations with cognitive science and linguistics communities.
