Lyn Goldberg is an Associate Professor at the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre, University of Tasmania. Her primary focus is on dementia research, particularly addressing disparities in healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. She leads national initiatives to develop culturally respectful dementia care education and has pioneered interprofessional programs improving oral health outcomes in aged care settings.
Research Interests: Dr. Goldberg's work spans dementia prevention, Aboriginal health equity, and the intersection of oral/nutritional health with cognitive decline. She emphasizes community-led research, policy advocacy, and translational studies to reduce dementia risk factors like diabetes and social isolation.
Grant Contributions: Over the past five years, she has secured $11.5M in external funding, leading projects such as the MRFF-funded Privileging the Spirit education initiative and NHMRC Centre of Excellence grants promoting Indigenous brain health. Her research has generated 25 peer-reviewed papers and over 760 citations.
Teaching & Supervision: Coordinates culturally responsive dementia care units in the online Bachelor of Dementia Care program. Supervises doctoral research on topics like post-diagnostic care, tongue strength biomarkers, and culturally safe dementia education.
