Lyn Ferguson is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in Metabolic Medicine at the University of Glasgow’s School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health. She holds a MBChB (Hons.) from the University of Glasgow (2010) and a PhD (2020) focused on cardiometabolic comorbidities in psoriatic disease. A Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath), she combines clinical practice as a Consultant with academic research.
Her research focuses on psoriatic arthritis, obesity-related cardiometabolic disorders, and immune-metabolic pathways. Key studies include the Immune Metabolic Associations in Psoriatic Arthritis (IMAPA) trial evaluating PDE4 inhibitors and the UK Biobank cohort analysis of chronic disease risk factors. She has published widely on inflammation-cardiovascular links, metabolic syndrome, and rheumatic disease comorbidities.
Dr. Ferguson’s work has been recognized with awards such as the Royal College of Pathologists Research Medal and Diabetes UK Type 2 Diabetes Research Award. Current grants include investigating obesity interventions in psoriatic disease and sub-phenotyping inflammatory diseases via body composition analysis.
Teaching responsibilities include MBChB Year 2 modules on bilirubin metabolism and digestion systems. Her research lab collaborates with the Institute of Health and Wellbeing on large-scale epidemiological projects.
