Lyman L. Dukes is a Professor at the University of South Florida (USF), where he also serves as the Doctoral Program Coordinator for the Exceptional Student Education program within the College of Education. He holds a PhD from the University of Connecticut and has over three decades of experience in education, spanning academic and administrative roles.
Research Focus: His work centers on improving educational outcomes for students with disabilities, particularly during their transition from K-12 to postsecondary education. Key areas include
- Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in higher education
- Postsecondary access and success for disabled students
- Research guidelines for disability-inclusive education
- Standards for higher education disability services
Honors: Dr. Dukes has received multiple accolades, including the Ronald E. Blosser Dedicated Service Award (2021), USF’s Outstanding Research Award (2017-2018), and the Division on Career Development and Transition’s Outstanding Service Award (2015). He has secured grants at local, state, and federal levels to advance research, program development, and doctoral training in exceptional student education.
