Lydia Munns is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Departments of Experimental Psychology and Psychiatry. Her work focuses on improving mental health interventions for children and parents, particularly through the OCD Empower project. She holds a PhD from the University of York (2024), where her thesis explored pregnancy bodily experiences and their impacts on maternal and infant outcomes. Prior roles include Research Assistant at the University of Bath (OCD app development) and Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of York.
Key research interests include child/adolescent mental health, neurodiversity, perinatal mental health, and body representation. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates clinical research with translational psychology, addressing gaps in maternal-infant bonding, postnatal well-being, and neurodevelopmental challenges in children. Lydia has contributed to systematic reviews on yoga-based interventions and sleep clinics for neurodevelopmental disorders.
Current projects include adapting online interventions for OCD in children and investigating the role of body dissatisfaction in postnatal care. She collaborates with NHS services and academic institutions internationally, emphasizing evidence-based practices for vulnerable populations.
