Dr. Lydia Miller serves as Assistant Professor of Social Work in the Department of Psychology, Sociology and Social Work at West Texas A&M University's Terry B. Rogers College of Education and Social Sciences, joining the faculty in 2024. She holds dual professional credentials as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Supervisor designation (LCSW-S) and Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC).
Her educational background includes:
- Doctor of Social Work (DSW), University of Kentucky, 2024
- Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW), West Texas A&M University, 2018
- Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy, West Texas A&M University, 2013
Dr. Miller's research centers on scholarship of teaching and learning in social work education, with particular emphasis on developing innovative curriculum and pedagogical strategies for adult learners. Her work critically examines trauma and marginalization impacts within educational systems while advancing methodologies to center marginalized voices in academic settings. She has presented nationally on Access, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ADEI) frameworks at the University of Alabama's National Conference on DSW Education and Social Work.
As a field education supervisor, Dr. Miller mentors graduate students in practical social work applications. She actively collaborates with local community organizations to enhance professional practice standards and community welfare initiatives through applied social work interventions.
