Dr. Amy Carlson serves as an Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction in the Department of Education at West Texas A&M University's Terry B. Rogers College of Education and Social Sciences, leveraging over a decade of K-12 teaching experience across elementary, middle, and high school levels to prepare future educators.
Her academic credentials include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (Reading emphasis) from West Texas A&M University
- Master’s degree in School Administration from West Texas A&M University
- Ph.D. from Texas Tech University
Her research critically examines literacy integration within content-area instruction and develops evidence-based strategies to expand Texas' certified teacher workforce. This dual focus addresses systemic educational challenges through practical classroom applications and pipeline innovations, directly supporting educators in contemporary learning environments.
She teaches undergraduate Social Studies and Data-Informed Instruction courses while advising the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE), actively mentoring prospective teachers through hands-on leadership development.
