Lydia Christofferson is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Mount Mercy University. She teaches undergraduate courses including Nursing Interventions, Adult Clinical Simulation, Nutrition, and Answering the Call to Nursing. Before joining academia full-time, she worked in cardiac catheterization and emergency nursing at Unity Point–St. Luke’s. Her research interests focus on adult wellness, disease prevention, cardiac care, and emergency nursing, emphasizing healthy lifestyle education for optimal patient care.
- Education: MSN (2018) and BSN (2008), both from Mount Mercy University
Christofferson advocates for self-care practices among nursing students, linking physical and emotional well-being to effective caregiving. She is affiliated with the American Nurses Association, Iowa Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International’s Kappa Xi Chapter. Outside academia, she enjoys running, outdoor activities, and family time.
