Luqman Muraina is a PhD researcher and Researcher at the University of York, UK, affiliated with the Department of Politics. He is a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the 2024/25 session and has previously served as a Tutorial assistant at the Sociology Department of the University of Cape Town, South Africa (2021-2022). His work focuses on decolonizing academic disciplines, particularly Development Studies and Sociology, through alternative epistemologies rooted in African contexts.

His publications span themes such as educational transformation in postcolonial Africa, gender dynamics in Indigenous cultures, health equity during pandemics, and youth entrepreneurship. He has presented at international conferences, including the ESSA conference (2023) on decolonizing development and the University of Glasgow (2023) on curriculum decolonization.
