Dr. Luna Xu serves as a Scientia Lecturer at the School of Public Health and Community Medicine (SPHCM) at the University of New South Wales, joining in July 2020 with a Heart Foundation post-doctoral fellowship. Her academic journey spans nursing, public health, and research disciplines with international education credentials.

Dr. Xu's research centers on population health with specialization in dietary interventions for chronic disease prevention among aging populations. Her work integrates epidemiological methods with nutritional science to address cardiovascular health across the lifespan, particularly focusing on how dietary patterns influence disease outcomes in elderly communities.
She has secured over $450,000 in competitive research funding from diverse sources including the National Heart Foundation fellowship ($153,850), Uniting ($100,000), University of Technology Sydney, and multiple smaller grants addressing dietary transitions in migrant populations and cardiovascular outcomes in older women.
