Luna Gauchez

Luna Gauchez is a doctoral researcher at the Free University of Brussels (VUB), affiliated with the Faculty of Physical Education and Physical Therapy and the End-of-Life Care Research Group. She holds a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy (2024) and is funded by Kom op tegen Kanker (Stand Up to Cancer Netherlands) to investigate the integration of physiotherapy in palliative oncology care.

Her research interests include enhancing physiotherapy’s role in palliative care, patient-reported outcome measures, and healthcare outcome assessment. She has published two systematic reviews in 2024 analyzing physiotherapy modalities for oncology patients, focusing on quality of life, muscle strength, and unexpected hospitalizations.

Scientific recognition includes receiving the Emmanuel van der Schueren startersbeurs in 2025. She actively organizes academic events, presents at conferences, and serves as a peer reviewer for journals like Palliative Medicine. Her collaborations span multiple institutions, including the Rehabilitation Research Group (RERE) and End-of-Life Care Research Group at VUB.
