Dr Luke Ulaş is a Lecturer in Political Theory at the University of Sheffield's Department of Politics and International Relations, within the School of Sociological Studies, Politics and International Relations. He joined in 2017 after postdoctoral roles at Goethe University Frankfurt (via the 'Justitia Amplificata' programme) and Durham University. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
His research focuses on cosmopolitanism, global political theory, and methodological questions in political theory. He is currently working on a book titled *Being Cosmopolitan* (Oxford UP, 2025) and has explored intersections between human nature and political psychology in normative theory. He received a 2019 Leverhulme Research Fellowship for work on 'Human Nature and the Prospects for Cosmopolitics.'
- Teaching: Teaches undergraduate modules like *Introduction to Western Political Thought* and *Cosmopolitanism*, plus an MA module on *Freedom*.
- Research Group: Member of the Political Theory research group.
His publications include journal articles in *Critical Review of International Social and Political Philosophy*, *Journal of Social Philosophy*, and *Political Studies*, addressing themes like institutional legitimacy, refugee solidarity, and Kantian cosmopolitanism. He actively supervises PhD students in global political theory and cosmopolitanism.
