Luke Paterson

Luke Paterson serves as a Research Associate in Health Economics at the Manchester Centre for Health Economics within the School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health at the University of Manchester. He co-leads the Centre's Early Careers Methodology Club with Mr Rob Hainsworth and functions as a teaching assistant for the Economic Evaluation in Health Care course unit (POPH60092) in the Master of Public Health program.

His academic credentials include a Master in Science in Health Economics (2020-2021) with Distinction from the University of York and a Bachelor of Science in Economics (2017-2020) with First Class honors. Paterson is an active member of the UK Health Economists' Study Group (HESG) and contributes to multiple significant research initiatives.

Paterson's research focuses on applying economic analyses to inform health technology assessment and health policy decisions across dementia, mental health, and type 2 diabetes mellitus. He specializes in patient simulation models for health technology assessments, particularly for type 2 diabetes applications. His work aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals related to health and wellbeing, addressing critical healthcare challenges through economic evaluation.
