Luke Moe serves as an Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky's College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, specializing in Agricultural Biotechnology. Based in the Plant Sciences Building (room 311), he holds dual mentorship roles as Career and Professional Mentor and Research Mentor. Dr. Moe earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and B.S. in Biochemistry from Washington State University. His academic foundation drives his research in molecular genetic applications for agricultural systems. He teaches ABT 460: Introduction to Molecular Genetics each Spring and ABT 495: Experimental Methods in Biotechnology each Fall, emphasizing hands-on laboratory techniques.
His research program focuses on Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology with applications in crop improvement and genetic engineering. Through the Moe Lab, he integrates biochemical methodologies with modern agricultural challenges. As a dedicated mentor, he guides students in both academic development and professional pathways within biotechnology fields.
