Dr. Luke H. Bradley is a Chellgren Endowed Professor and Acting Chair of the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Kentucky. He holds academic affiliations with the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, Lewis Honors College, Neuroscience Major, Center of Structural Biology, and Brain Restoration Center. His research focuses on developing synthetic peptide and protein-based platforms for diagnostics and biotherapeutics, alongside pioneering STEM outreach programs like UK START. He completed his BS in Chemistry/Biochemistry at Ohio University, PhD in Biochemistry at Ohio State University, and postdoctoral training at Princeton University under Michael Hecht.
Research Interests: Dr. Bradley’s work bridges biochemistry and neurobiology to design molecular tools for biotechnical applications. His lab (https://lhbradley1.wixsite.com/bradleylab) emphasizes peptide/protein scaffolds for medical applications. He also leads the UK START Program (https://www.uky.edu/start/), fostering STEM engagement among underrepresented students through research and professional development.
Grants & Outreach: His efforts include community STEM initiatives such as volunteering at science fairs and serving on school advisory councils. He chairs Kentucky’s Postsecondary Education Faculty Advisory Network, advocating for STEM education policies.
