معرفی
Dr. Luke Davies is a Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences at Swansea University, within the Faculty of Medicine, Health, and Life Sciences. He holds a BSc in Biochemistry and a PhD in Immunology, and he previously held a prestigious Henry Wellcome Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the USA. His research focuses on immunometabolism, myeloid cell biology, and inflammation-driven diseases, with particular expertise in macrophage biology and sepsis. He is actively involved in teaching immunology, metabolism, and infection at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including mentoring final-year research projects. Dr. Davies is based at the Institute of Life Science on Singleton Campus and is available for postgraduate supervision.
Education: BSc Biochemistry and PhD Immunology from institutions in Wales. Professional Experience: NIH fellowship (2010s) and current academic role at Swansea University Medical School. Research Interests: Immunometabolism, innate immunity, peritoneal physiology, and translational studies on sepsis biomarkers. His work bridges clinical applications and basic science, with a focus on leveraging metabolic pathways for therapeutic interventions.
Research Highlights: Dr. Davies’ publications span macrophage metabolism, sepsis biomarkers in pregnancy, and inflammatory responses to surgical implants. Collaborations include studies on maternal sepsis detection and neonatal immune profiling. His lab explores the interplay between immune and metabolic systems in health and disease, with recent focus on translational research for clinical diagnostics and treatments.
Awards: Henry Wellcome Fellowship (prestigious early-career award supporting immunometabolism research). Supervision: Current PhD student in peritoneal dialysis therapies. Teaching: Modules include Fundamental Research Skills, Medical Genetics, and Human Immunopathology.
