Lukas Mach

Lukas Mach is a Professor at the Department of Applied Genetics and Cell Biology, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. His research focuses on biosynthesis and intracellular transport of secretory and lysosomal/vacuolar proteins, glycosylation, posttranslational modifications, and the role of proteases in biotechnology and pathology.

He has supervised over 114 university theses, including Master's and PhD projects, and led numerous research initiatives funded by organizations like the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and the European Union. His work explores the catalytic properties of proteases, their involvement in tumor invasion, and recombinant expression of biotherapeutics in plant and insect cells.

His projects include investigations into lysosomal proteinases, anti-metastatic potential of receptors, and proteolytic maturation of cathepsins. He has presented findings at international conferences such as the International Plant Protease Conference and the European Carbohydrate Symposium.
