Arjen Schots

Arjen Schots is an Associate Professor at the Laboratory of Nematology, Wageningen University & Research. His research focuses on plant-based protein engineering, glycobiology, and immune modulation mechanisms of parasitic helminths. He specializes in using Nicotiana benthamiana as a production system for recombinant glycoproteins and investigates glycan structures influencing therapeutic efficacy.

He has received multiple educational awards, including the Excellent Education prize (2014) and Zilveren Zandlooper (2008). His work bridges fundamental glycobiology with applied biotechnology, addressing challenges in recombinant protein production and immune system interactions with parasitic antigens.
