Dr. Krone's research investigates corticothalamic interactions, sleep homeostasis, and neurotherapeutic interventions for sleep disorders. His work combines animal models with clinical sleep studies, challenging subcortical-centric sleep regulation theories.
Recent publications cover non-invasive brain stimulation, cortical sleep circuits, and sleep-mental health interactions. He has received multiple early investigator awards from international sleep societies and competitive scholarships from Oxford, Bavaria, and the German academic foundation Studienstiftung.
