Luiza Angheluta-Bauer is a Professor in Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Oslo. Her research focuses on statistical physics of complex systems, including quantum turbulence, topological defects, and active matter. She holds a PhD (2010) and MSc (2006) in Physics from the University of Oslo and Niels Bohr Institute, respectively.
- Education: PhD Physics (University of Oslo, 2010), MSc Physics (Niels Bohr Institute, 2006)
- Teaching: Courses include FYS3140 (Mathematical Methods in Physics), FYS2160 (Thermodynamics and Statistical Physics), and FYS4130 (Statistical Mechanics).
Her research interests span theoretical and computational studies of collective phenomena in complex systems. Key topics include turbulent flows (classical/quantum), plastic deformations, and interface dynamics. Notable contributions include work on topological defects in active matter and phase-field crystal models.
Awards:
- Fridtjof Nansen Award for Young Researchers (2012)
- The King’s Gold Medal for PhD Thesis (2011)
- Visiting Research Fellowship at IFISC, Spain (2018)
She supervises PhD and MSc students in areas like fluid dynamics, defect dynamics, and materials science. Active in collaborative projects such as COLOSSAL (international flow dynamics) and MODIFLOW (multiphase flow research).
Research Groups: Condensed Matter Physics, Interface Dynamics in Geophysical Flows (EarthFlows).
