معرفی
Luiz Jardim de Queiroz is a Researcher at the University of Groningen, affiliated with the Groningen Institute for Evolutionary Life Sciences within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. He currently holds a postdoctoral position funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF Postdoc.Mobility) at Naturalis Biodiversity Center and the University of Groningen. His research focuses on biogeography, evolutionary history of fish communities in postglacial lakes, and the impact of human activities on species distribution and diversity.
Education:
- PhD (2019): Ecology and Evolution, University of Geneva
- MSc (2009): Freshwater Biology and Inland Fisheries, National Institute of Amazonian Research
- BSc (2006): Biology, Federal University of Rondônia
Research Interests:
Dr. de Queiroz investigates 'inverted islands' formed by postglacial perialpine lakes in the European Alps, exploring colonization, extinction, and speciation dynamics. He examines how human activities (e.g., introductions, habitat modification) alter species-area relationships in these systems. His work bridges evolutionary biology and conservation, with a focus on freshwater ecosystems and Amazon Basin biodiversity.
Grants & Collaborations:
- Swiss National Science Foundation Postdoc.Mobility grant (2023–present)
- Cross-institutional collaborations with Eawag, University of Bern, and the Natural History Museum of Bern
Labs/Teams:
Active in the Groningen Institute for Evolutionary Life Sciences and affiliated with Naturalis Biodiversity Center.
