Luisa Marti is a Reader in Linguistics at Queen Mary, University of London, within the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film. She specializes in theoretical linguistics with a focus on semantics, morpho-syntax, and pragmatics. Her research explores grammatical number, numerals, definiteness, and quantification across languages like Spanish, Russian, and the understudied Atara Imere of Vanuatu. Dr. Marti holds a PhD from the University of Connecticut and currently serves as a Leverhulme Trust Research Fellow investigating numeral phrases' implications for language architecture.
Her work combines theoretical, cross-linguistic, and experimental approaches, including collaborations on Russian indefinites and articles in Atara Imere. Key grants include two British Academy/Leverhulme Trust awards (2019–2021) and a current Leverhulme Fellowship. She is affiliated with research groups such as the Formal Linguistics Research Group and the Experimental Linguistics Research Group at Queen Mary.
