Luis Pizarro

Dr. Luis Pizarro is the Director General of the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi), a nonprofit medical research organization. A French-Chilean physician and global health specialist, he previously led Solthis (2007–2019), an international health organization improving access to HIV, maternal health, and infectious disease care in West Africa. He also served as a senior manager at Unitaid, overseeing HIV programs, and is a founder of Santé Mondiale 2030, a global health think tank. His leadership focuses on equitable medical innovation, climate-affected diseases, pediatric care, and gender equity. DNDi, under his direction, aims to develop 13 new treatments by 2028, emphasizing partnerships and research in disease-endemic regions.
