Luigina Mortari is a Full Professor of General and Social Pedagogy (PAED-01/A) at the Department of Human Sciences, University of Verona. She holds office in Palazzo Zorzi-Polfranceschi (Room 2.11) and serves as Director of the Caring Education Research Center (CERC) and MELETE - Center of Ethics for Care.
Her research spans two interconnected domains: philosophy of care (theorizing care in education and healthcare) and virtue ethics (applied through the MelArete project). She developed an epistemology of qualitative research blending phenomenological, hermeneutical, and grounded methods, notably advancing the Empirical Phenomenological Method (EPM) for educational and healthcare contexts.
Mortari directs the MelArete research group focused on ethical education in schools and co-leads the EMOTIONS interdisciplinary group studying emotions in human sciences. Her major projects include EduForIst 3.0 (emotional relationships/STI prevention in schools), Transnational Youth Forum on Education Rights, and ATLAS#VERONETTA community intervention initiatives.
She actively contributes to institutional governance as member of multiple degree course councils (Nursing, Philosophy, Primary Education) and chairs scientific committees for professional training courses in ethical education, school leadership, and artistic pedagogy.
