Luigi Sperti is a Full Professor of Classical Archaeology (L-ANT/07) at Ca' Foscari University of Venice and Deputy Director of the Department of Humanistic Studies. He holds a degree in Classics (Udine, 1982) and has held academic positions since 1992, including roles at the University of Udine. His research focuses on Roman architecture, spolia reuse, and digital cultural heritage.
Key roles include:
- Director of the 'Digiland' digital heritage project
- Lead archaeologist on excavations at Altino and Laodicea
- Co-director of Rivista di Archeologia (ANVUR Class A)
Research interests span Roman art/architecture, digital archaeology, and spolia studies. Awards include Mellon and Italian Ministry grants. He teaches courses on Greek/Roman archaeology and oversees cultural heritage programs.
