Luděk Knittl is a University Teacher in Czech at the University of Sheffield's School of Languages, Arts and Societies. Originally from Moravia, Czech Republic, he has taught Czech since 2004 after careers in translation, interpretation, tour guiding, and personal development facilitation.
He holds a BSc in Human Communication Sciences, an MA in Language Acquisition, and an MEd in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from Sheffield, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
His research examines second language acquisition, Czech phonology acquisition by English speakers, biological motion encoding in language learners, and morphological frequency/acceptability in Czech. He collaborates on the 'Feast and Famine' project analyzing linguistic defectivity and overabundance.
Teaching innovations include developing culture/history courses with CILASS/CEELBAS grants and creating interactive Czech exercises. He teaches Czech language/culture modules at all levels and a school-wide language pedagogy course.
