Jansen has secured significant third-party funding for projects including "Learning from Nature: Epistemological and Ontological Foundations of Biomimetics" (DFG, 2022-2024), "Formal Causation in Aristotle and in Analytical Metaphysics and Philosophy of Science" (DFG, 2018-2020), and "Good Ontology Design" (DFG, 2010-2013). His extensive publication record demonstrates consistent contributions to philosophical discourse, particularly in formal ontology and its applications across disciplines.
Jansen's scholarly work reveals a strong focus on the intersection of classical philosophical traditions with contemporary analytical approaches, particularly in developing robust ontological frameworks applicable to biomedical sciences and social phenomena. His recent publications indicate growing interest in biomimetics, social ontology of collective entities like music bands, and the philosophical foundations of sustainability.
- Winner of the 2005 scientific prize of the Research Institute for Philosophy Hannover (FIPH)

His work bridges theoretical philosophy with practical applications in biomedical informatics and interdisciplinary research.
