Lucyna M. Lach is an Associate Professor at McGill University's School of Social Work (Faculty of Arts) and an Associate Member in the Departments of Pediatrics and Neurology/Neurosurgery (Faculty of Medicine). She holds the role of Associate Dean (Student Affairs) since 2012, overseeing student support initiatives. Her research focuses on health-related quality of life for children with neurodisabilities, parenting challenges, and healthcare navigation systems. Dr. Lach earned her Ph.D. (2004) from the University of Toronto, following a B.A. (1984) and M.S.W. (1986).
Her work integrates clinical practice, policy, and research to improve outcomes for neurodivergent children and families. Major projects include the CIHR Team in PARENTING MATTERS! and the CHILD-BRIGHT initiative. She has contributed to over 50 peer-reviewed articles and holds grants from CIHR, SSHRC, and NeuroDevNet. Dr. Lach also serves on boards such as the CIUSSS Centre-Ouest Board and Dans La Rue, advocating for marginalized populations.
Research interests span social determinants of health, family-centered care, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Her recent work examines financial support systems for families of children with disabilities and the impact of parenting interventions on neurodiverse youth.
Her articles emphasize systemic barriers in healthcare access, the role of parenting in child outcomes, and policy reforms for equity. She has led initiatives to streamline service navigation for families and improve caregiver well-being through evidence-based strategies.
Grants and leadership roles include the $25M CHILD-BRIGHT initiative, focusing on neurodevelopmental conditions. Her work bridges academic research with community impact, prioritizing practical solutions for families facing complex challenges.
