Dr. Lucy Gitonga serves as Assistant Professor of Special Education at Mercer University's Tift College of Education. She holds a PhD in Special Education from the University of Georgia (2016) and an MEd in Multiple and Severe Disability from Georgia State University (2007).
Her research focuses on national/international inclusive practices for young children with disabilities, developmental screening methodologies, and culturally responsive parental engagement strategies. She has developed professional development programs implemented globally to enhance inclusive education frameworks.
Dr. Gitonga's scholarly work demonstrates consistent emphasis on language justice and equity in early childhood special education settings, particularly through literacy interventions for diverse learners.
