Lucy Delgado (she/they) is a Two-spirit Métis woman and Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Administration, Foundations, and Psychology within the Faculty of Education at the University of Manitoba. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Dr. Delgado brings her lived experience and academic expertise to her teaching and research.
Dr. Delgado holds a PhD from the University of Saskatchewan, an MEd and BEd from Lakehead University, and a BA (Adv.) from the University of Manitoba.
Dr. Delgado's research and teaching focus spans several interconnected areas of Indigenous education and identity. She specializes in Métis youth identity, Indigenous education, queer theory, Indigenous feminisms, Indigenous hip hop, and youth cultures. Her work is grounded in Métis research methodologies and centers on youth-led community-based research that addresses the experiences and perspectives of Queer Métis identities.
Dr. Delgado has made significant contributions to academic publishing as co-founder of Pawaatamihk: Journal of Métis Thinkers and as Assistant Editor of the Canadian Journal of Indigenous Studies. She is also actively involved in professional organizations, serving on the executives of both the Canadian Association of Social Justice Education and Queer Studies in Education and Culture (Canadian Society for the Study of Education).
