Lucio Esposito is a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the School of Global Development. He holds memberships in the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, the Behavioural and Experimental Development Economics group, and the Literacy and Development Group. With a PhD in Economics (2010), his research focuses on inequality, poverty, wellbeing, health, and education, emphasizing Latin America and Southern Africa. He directs UEA's MA and BA programs in International Development and teaches courses like 'Economics of Development' and 'Welfare and Evaluation for Development.' His recent projects include DFID-funded studies on income inequality and growth-poverty linkages, as well as Wellcome Trust-funded research on health and morbidity. He currently supervises six PhD students exploring topics such as fiscal policy, youth aspirations, and health equity.
Key research areas include relative deprivation measurement, Sen's capability approach, and cross-country methodologies. His work bridges theoretical and empirical analysis, with a focus on primary data collection. Notable collaborations involve institutions in Mexico, Mozambique, and other regions. Lucio’s publications span political ideologies, health disparities, and policy impacts, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to development challenges.
