Lucinda E.G. Ramberg is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Cornell University, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. Her work bridges medical and sociocultural anthropology, focusing on intersections of feminist, postcolonial, and queer theories; religion/secularism; medicine; and South Asia. She directs the Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies graduate program and holds roles in interdisciplinary initiatives like the Nilgiris Field Learning Center and the Einaudi Center's Qualities of Life Working Group.
Research focuses include South Indian devadasi practices and Dalit Buddhist conversions, exploring how bodies mediate power, sexuality, and citizenship. Her award-winning book *Given to the Goddess* (2014) analyzes religious marriage systems, while newer work examines caste radicalism and sexual modernity. Publications span journals like *American Ethnologist*, *Feminist Studies*, and *Culture, Medicine and Psychiatry*.
Awards include the Michelle Rosaldo Prize and multiple discipline-specific recognitions. She advises on Cornell's LGBT Studies programs and contributes to interfaith dialogues and social science policy panels.
