Lucie Towse

Lucie Towse serves as a Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education at Canterbury Christ Church University within the School of Social Work, Education, and Teacher Education. Formerly a secondary school teacher and Subject Leader for Geography and Travel & Tourism (ages 11-18), she transitioned to higher education to specialize in teacher training, predominantly through the Teach First programme where she developed the South East Geography curriculum and served as Programme Director for the South East and South Coast PGDE.

Her professional focus centers on Geography teacher education, evidenced by leadership in the Secondary PGCE and School Direct routes since mid-2019. She emphasizes mentorship of student teachers and Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs), integrating curriculum design with practical teaching development. Her work bridges school-level pedagogy and higher education frameworks, prioritizing collaborative growth for both educators and pupils.

Current responsibilities include leading the Geography curriculum strand across multiple teacher training pathways, with expertise in program management and professional studies integration.
